Working with Barnardo’s, we have given over 50 unemployed young people aged 16 to 24 the chance to gain comprehensive paid work opportunities. We offer training and industry-related qualifications, getting them well on the road to independent employment. Often they are the first generation in the family for some time to be employed on a permanent basis.
LOCAL COMPANIES ARE PART OF THE TEAM
When our back-up power station on Stornoway has to kick into action, or we need to fix the sub-sea cable that connects the island to the Scottish mainland, then local company Gordon Diesels have to work with us 24/7. It is our way of ensuring the locals keep any sort of power supply running. We work with many local companies like Gordon Diesel. It’s embedded into our culture to value what these many local relationships can bring.
ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY COMPANIES
We can’t pilot the future for energy distribution on our own. That is why we work closely on partnerships with a number of the world’s leading companies in advanced technologies. These include the likes of Nissan, on the development of the electric car; Honeywell, a Fortune 100 company that invents and manufactures technologies on energy efficiency and clean energy generation; and General Electric, one of the world’s leading companies at generating solutions for energy and the home.
